Happy summer

Summer solstice is tomorrow, but you can already feel and see the season in Virginia — sultry stifling wind, the pockets of heavy moist humidity, the fleeting shadows cast by scurrying cumulus clouds, the tree leaves glittering like emeralds against the baby-blue sky.

We went for a stroll through Old Town today — King Street is so so so much more appealing than M Street. While my parents and brother visited a firehouse that was established in the 1700s, I browsed around a Turkish porcelain shop, a Parisian clothes boutique, and an Ethiopian crafts store. Definitely intend to go back and take sneaky photos of the fancy and eccentric paraphernalia inside the antique shops, thrift stores, bookshops, and boutiques.
